The disadvantage of this method is the expensive alcohol price (over VND 40,000 / liter). If used alone, alcohol has a high detonation index (130), so it cannot be used as fuel to run machines of all kinds . (octane index is often understood as quantitative parameter to determine the nature of flame retardant. of gasoline).

Meanwhile, another type of by-product of the oil and gas industry, which has a lot of condensate in Vietnam (Dinh Co - Vung Tau factory discharging nearly 1 million liters / day) has low octane (60-64). so it cannot be used as fuel.

Prior to this fact, Engineer Le Ngoc Khanh studied and selected a special enzyme that can convert industrial alcohol (purity 96%) into a mixture, called aleston. Bringing aleston to mix with A92 gasoline at a rate of 50:50, the author obtained a kind of ' gasoline ' that the author calls 'C95 gasoline' .

Through initial measurements at a number of domestic laboratories, ' C95 gasoline ' has an octane of 101.2 (compared to A92 gasoline with an Octane index of 92).

'C95 petrol ' can be used like A92 petrol, which is more economical. 1 liter of A92 petrol only runs 120 km but C95 petrol can allow vehicles to cross the road 120 km. And the level of environmental pollution of ' C95 petrol ' has decreased nearly 5 times compared to A92 gasoline.

According to engineer Le Ngoc Khanh, the price of one liter of C95 petrol is only about 7,250 VND / liter.

A special enzyme that converts industrial alcohol into aleston to blend with gasoline is now kept private.

With OBK-5, the researcher announced that the octane index of pure condensate has been raised from 60-64 units to 83-96 units, ie the octane index of gasoline A83 or A92. Just need to mix about 2% of OBK-5 into condensat to turn condensate into a new type of gasoline similar to A92 gasoline.

According to engineer Le Ngoc Khanh, if the price of 1 liter of condensate is 12.2 cents (about 2,000 VND), the cost is to convert condensat into a new type of gasoline, equivalent to gasoline A 83 or A92) only about 4,500 VND / liter.

This cost includes VND 1,000 to buy OBK-5 and VND 1,500 for other necessary expenses!

Engineer Le Ngoc Khanh is 66 years old this year. Working at the Institute of Chemical Technology of the Institute of Science and Technology in Ho Chi Minh City (under the National Center for Natural Science and Technology, now the National Institute of Science and Technology) from 1967-2002. .
