How to improve rice yield on degraded land

Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Tam Duong district (Vinh Phuc), has researched and applied the technical advances, helping to improve the productivity of rice on degraded land, reducing the difficulties of irrigation water.

Picture 1 of How to improve rice yield on degraded land The research has been implemented in Hoang Hoa commune on a scale of 1ha, in both Spring and Summer crops.

The study has opened new cultivation ways to reduce irrigation water, reduce seeds, fertilizers and plant protection drugs and increase productivity, quality and economic efficiency.

For Spring rice and summer rice, effective cultivation method by transplanting from 40-45 clumps / square meter, transplanting 2 stems / clump, combined using super water absorbing polymer materials for rice, use microbial fertilizer replacing chemical fertilizer .

According to the calculation of both cases, the production value reaches over VND 100 million / ha / year, an increase of 10-15%, product quality and value both increase twice compared to the previous one, reducing irrigation water three times, reduce large amounts of chemical fertilizers and pesticides .

In the past, when not using measures to synthesize technical advances to improve productivity of rice on degraded land, difficulties in irrigation water, rice yield in Tam Duong district was lower than other localities from 10- 15%.

Tam Duong district is speeding up technical training for farmers, it is expected that from 2010, there will be 40% of the area applied to improve rice productivity on degraded land and difficulties in irrigation water.
