"Snoring" hummingbirds when hibernating

For us, snoring not only destroys relationships but also affects health - breathing stops (breathing is interrupted for a short time) - while sleeping.

But have you ever wondered, other than humans, does any creature know how to snore? The BBC has recently released evidence to prove that hummingbirds also " snore " like humans.

According to experts, snoring in mammals occurs when the airways can be narrowed or airflow is blocked, vibrations produce snoring when the subject breathes. But this is not true for hummingbirds.

Instead, the "snoring" sound comes when this hummingbird wakes up after a brief hibernation - the time it takes for hummingbirds to recharge their energy as well as helping them keep their body heat.

One of the other characteristics of hummingbirds in hibernation is that their hearts are beating fast - about 1,260 times per minute, and their body temperature will drop lower than other hot-blooded creatures when they sleep. Hummingbirds also have the highest metabolism in any other vertebrate, which partly helps them save energy in their own way.

After closer study, experts found, when hummingbirds are "in a coma ", they use very little oxygen. Although this helps them save a lot of energy, it will make it difficult for them to wake up.

Because, when " dawn ", they need a large amount of oxygen (equivalent to body size) to start up, increasing the body's temperature to wake up.

The noise they emit may be due to when they combine the oxygen extraction process and start up helps increase body temperature . Some experts say this rhythmic panting is a sign of stress, and may be about to die.

However, many others shared, when the hummingbird woke up, he flew away with a healthy look and was still searching for the first food of the day.
