Identify the Egyptian pharaoh in the ancient tomb
US archaeologists recently identified the owner of the excavated tomb in Egypt last year, pharaoh Sobekhotep I, who ruled the country nearly 4,000 years ago.

The pharaoh was identified as Sobekhotep I. He was considered the founder and ruler of the 13th dynasty (1781-1650 BC), about 3,800 years ago.Pharaoh Sobekhotep I ruled Egypt for about 4.5 years.

Egyptian Egyptian Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said the identity of the coffin was determined after the team found debris from a stone carved with the pharaoh's name and showed him sitting on the throne. .
AFP quoted an official from the Ministry of Antiquities saying that identifying the identity of Sobekhotep I is important because so far the information available about this pharaoh is not much.
Experts say the discovery could provide more information about the life and time of reigning in the pharaoh's country as well as providing materials to study Egyptian history at this stage.
Last year, the research team at the University of Pennsylvania, USA, discovered and excavated a grave containing a casket made of quartzite stone and weighed about 60 tons in the city of Abydos, 500km south of Cairo. However, during the later study, they did not identify the identity of the person being buried.
