In a few years we will use human excrement instead of gasoline
Experts are making the most "green" fuel ever from human feces.
The current world trend is to find and disseminate biofuels and "green" and environmentally friendly fuels to prevent climate change.
Following this trend, a team of experts at the University of California is developing a fuel that must be said to be extremely biological: from human and animal feces.
The current world trend is to find and disseminate biofuels.
By modifying Bacillus subtilis - also known as hay bacilli , researchers can break down protein structures in waste and transfer the remaining materials into bioethanol and ammonia.
"We are realizing this in many forms of waste such as fertilizer, waste water, plants, even CO 2 we breathe out," said David Wernick, a University of California graduate student .
Billions of tons of manure are released each year by humans.
According to Wernick every year humans and animals emit billions of tons of manure and waste, things that don't do anything but pollute the environment.
So if we can turn this useless thing into energy, Wernick believes we can dislodge the fossil fuels that are monopolizing the market today.
He said fossil fuels such as gasoline, diesel and jet fuel are things that dominate the world. They are all flammable fuels, producing very large energy levels, but at the same time very toxic and polluting the environment.
Biofuels are currently not a suitable substitute for gasoline.
Meanwhile, the current biofuels are quite friendly, but are not really considered to be a good alternative to gasoline, because the heat generated is not enough, and the component is too different.
Wernick thinks the new fuel from human feces will help solve this. He and his colleagues are trying to produce a bio-fuel that has a denser energy, almost like real gasoline, but of course is very friendly to the environment.
Imagine this supercar running on a stool .
And even this fuel helps us clean up billions of tons of manure that is released every year. It is indeed the most convenient.
It seems that the future of using manure to run cars is not far away.
