India tried missiles capable of carrying nuclear bullets

Indian Army, this morning (October 12), successfully tested two Prithvi-II surface-to-surface missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads. This is a weapon that can attack targets at a distance of 350km.

Indian defense sources said the two locally-built missiles were launched by mobile catapults at 10:25 and 10:30 am this morning from the test site in Chandipur, Orissa state.

The two-engine Prithvi-II missiles are 9m long, 1 meter across, and a range of about 150-350km and can carry conventional or nuclear warheads. This type of missile equipped with this inertial navigation system also has the ability to deceive an enemy's missile.

Two missiles fired on this morning had different ranges. They are designed to work with both liquid and solid fuels.

Scientists at the Indian Defense Research Development Agency (DRDO) oversaw the test with the support of personnel at the launch site. Navy ships are anchored near the target touch points on the Bay of Bengal.

The most recent attempt at Prithvi-II was on April 15, also at Chandipur.
