Indonesia: The country continued to rise in Jakarta, 200,000 people evacuated

Today (February 4), the country continues to rise in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, causing the flooding situation to worsen and forcing 200,000 people to flee their homes.

Many commercial and residential areas, water up to 1.8m.'Jakarta is currently at the highest level of warning,' said Sihar Simanjuntak, an official overseeing water levels in the city's major rivers. Electricity, water and part of the city's communication system were cut. Medical groups are forced to use boats to reach the trapped people.

This is considered the worst flood in Jakarta in the last 5 years. According to the latest statistics, at least 9 people were killed and 200,000 evacuated. Rain is expected to continue for another 2 weeks.

Severe polluted water along with a recent dengue fever is causing concern about the spread of many diseases.
