Indonesia: Two more people infected with bird flu
Yesterday morning, a 2-year-old Indonesian boy became the latest victim of bird flu, bringing the total number of deaths from the H5N1 virus to the country to 56. Another person was also identified as infected.
According to officials from the Indonesian Ministry of Health's Information Center for Avian Influenza, the boy came from Karawang (West Java province), hospitalized yesterday and died this morning, November 13. There is information that the baby has been exposed to poultry.
Earlier this morning, the Indonesian Ministry of Health announced that a 35-year-old woman was also receiving bird flu at Sulianti Suroso hospital. She lives in Tanggerang, a suburb of Jakarta, but it is unclear if she is in contact with poultry. With these two new cases, Indonesia has 74 people infected with bird flu, of which 56 have died.
