Intel launched the low-cost PC platform
Some PC makers say Intel has recently officially decided to accelerate the process of commercializing the low-cost Basic Platform Shelton technology platform.
Accordingly, Basic Platform will be launched in May next time instead of in the third quarter of this year as previously planned.
The desktop PC Shelton platform will take the core of a single-core 45nm Diamondville 230 microprocessor that operates at 1.6GHz with 512KB of L2 Cache cache and supports 533MHz FSB. Technical specifications of the Shelton platform for desktop PCs using dual-core processor chips have not been specifically disclosed.
Meanwhile, the Shelton platform for laptops also uses a single-core N270 microprocessor chip that uses the same microarchitecture as Diamondville chip for desktop PCs. The feature of this chip is that it can handle up to 2 threads (threats) in the same circle. Other parts of the mobile Shelton platform include the 9445GSE chipset, the ICH7-M southbridge .
In addition, Intel is currently planning to spend up to $ 1 billion in the next three years to promote the development of low-cost PCs in the Asian market while promoting and standardizing this product in the emerging markets. other development.
