Inventing a cabin to carry Covid-19 patients in isolation

The cabin carrying Covid-19 patients in the isolation area was successfully invented by the research team of the University of Science and Technology, contributing to supporting nurses and doctors in epidemic prevention and control.

On July 2, the University of Technology (Da Nang University) handed over the technology product " Cabin carrying Covid-19 patients in the isolation area" to Lien Chieu District Medical Center, Da Nang city.

This is a product created by Mr. Dang Xuan Thuy, lecturer at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Science and Technology and the patent research team, in order to promptly serve the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic.

The cabin carrying Covid-19 patients has a structure that simulates a negative pressure chamber, ensuring that it does not spread bacteria into the air. This product is fully equipped with a system of disinfection spray equipment, exhaust fans, oxygen tanks, lights and warning lights.

The cabin is made of aluminum, weighs about 80 kg, is easy to move thanks to being connected to an electric scooter or flexible hand pull. Inside the cabin, there are seats or flip-flops, carrying a payload of more than 100 kg.

According to TS. Dang Xuan Thuy, the superiority of this product is transportation by electric motorbike, suitable for transporting patients between buildings, function rooms and campuses of hospitals and medical centers. This cabin is disassembled and assembled to move the handrail from the corridor to the patient rooms…

"The cost of manufacturing the product is estimated at about VND 60 million. If it is produced in large quantities, the cost can be reduced to about VND 50 million ," said MSc. Dang Xuan Thuy.

Also according to MSc. Dang Xuan Thuy, after Lien Chieu District Medical Center placed an order, the research team successfully manufactured this product in a month.

Doctor Le Van Sy, Director of Lien Chieu District Medical Center, said that thanks to the negative pressure cabin, when moving patients or suspected infected people, it is guaranteed not to spread the virus outside, causing cross-infection.
