Iran set up the first space observatory

On June 9, Iran announced it had established its first center to observe flying objects in space.

IRNA news agency quoted Iranian defense minister, General Ahmad Vahidi, saying the center was set up to ensure Iranian space security , but Tehran is ready to share the information available to other countries. The report said Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attended the inauguration of the center, located near the town of Delijan, 200km south of Tehran.

Iran has an ambitious space program

Iran often declares their breakthrough technological advances, but news is often difficult to verify. However, Tehran has long maintained an ambitious space program with the goal of putting the satellite on orbit and launching manned spacecraft.

'The basic goal is to ensure the security of the nation's space equipment and to monitor objects flying in space, especially satellites flying over Iranian airspace,' Vahidi said. Iran now has a control and control station for the country's space program, including a station in Syria. The other eight stations are located in central and southern Iran. Vahidi said the center in Delijan used radars, photovoltaic glasses and radio track.

Iran announced that it wanted to put satellites in orbit to monitor disasters, as the country often struck earthquakes, helping people improve communications and enhance military reconnaissance. The United States and its allies fear Iran will use satellite launchers to develop long-range missiles.

In a remarkable statement in February, Tehran said it had successfully launched a monkey into space.
