Iran will bring monkeys to space

Iran plans to bring monkeys to space this summer, after successfully launching the Rassad-1 satellite on Wednesday.

" Kavoshgar-5 will be launched between July 23 and August 23 with a 285-kilogram chamber carrying a monkey 120 kilometers high ," said Hamid Fazeli, head of the bureau. Iranian pillar said.

In February, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced, a compartment designed to carry a living monkey into space, along with four new self-created satellites, is expected to be launched before March 2012. The introduction of large animals into space will be the first step towards bringing people into space, as planned in 2020.

Last year, Iran used to bring small animals into space, such as mice, turtles and worms with Kavoshgar-3 missiles. On Wednesday, Iran successfully launched the Rassad-1 satellite into space at 260 km above the ground. It flies 15 times around the globe every day. This satellite is capable of taking photos of the earth.

Iran first introduced satellites into orbit in 2009. The country also outlined an ambitious program in the concern of Western countries.

Western powers are frightened, Iran's space program may be related to the development of ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads. However, Iran has denied this and said that its nuclear program and space are for peaceful purposes.
