Is there evidence that sea monsters really exist?

A new study has provided evidence that the existence of seemingly mythical creatures exists only in myths.

Since the 18th century, seafarers have been whispering stories about the horrors called Kraken - a giant tentacle monster that sinks ships on the sea.

Mark McMenamin, a paleontologist from Mount Holyoke University in Massachusetts, USA, said he had discovered some signs that could prove the existence of the Kraken species.

During the study of fossils of the giant fish lizard, McMenamin found evidence of a Kraken up to 30 meters long, stemming from the wound it caused to the fish lizard. . By examining the location and characteristics of the traces on the remnant bones of nine fish-lizard families found in Nevada state, he began to have doubts first.

Previously, it was thought that the animal with the head and length of this dolphin was killed by a toxic plankton in shallow water. But McMenamin believes that the cause of death is not so simple.

Traces of bone showed that they were not killed at the same time. From there, he reorganized the order of bones and hypothesized that an octopus-like creature like Kraken had drowned or broken their necks. In addition, McMenamin also found that these animals, after being taken away, may be taken to Kraken's lair because of signs of tentacles.

However, some people are still skeptical that this explanation is no different from conjecture and simply indirect evidence.

Despite this, McMenamin said he was ready and quite confident in the evidence found. Results are presented at the annual meeting of the American Geological Society in Minneapolis.
