Israel found a protein that reduced 97% of HIV virus after 8 days

With this finding, Israeli scientists have brought hope to patients with HIV / AIDS.

According to Independent, the HIV / AIDS disease has killed more than one million people globally by 2015.

With a normal mechanism of action, the HIV virus attacks CD4, a type of white blood cell that helps the body fight off illnesses like the flu. HIV virus creates many copies of itself, destroying CD4 more quickly. When CD4 cells of an HIV-infected person drop below 200 per millimeter of blood, they will develop into AIDS.

Scientists at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem have introduced a new drug into a test tube containing the blood of 10 AIDS-infected patients.

The new drug contains the active ingredient, called Gammora , that makes many copies of the DNA of HIV virus entering cells, causing damaged white blood cells to self-destruct and unable to spread the virus into the bloodstream.

Scientists will continue to test the effects of Gammora in hopes that it can kill 100% of HIV-infected cells.

Currently, HIV patients are treated with oral medications daily to suppress the disease, but there is no complete cure.

Abraham Loyter, a drug development participant, said: "With this approach, we are trying to destroy the cells, so the virus will not have a chance to grow."
