Japan: Dozens of people die of

Drug resistant bacteria are causing serious consequences when recently, Japan has just discovered dozens of cases of infection with multi-drug resistant bacteria called Acinetobacter baumannii.

A report from Teikyo University Hospital submitted to Tokyo city government on September 2 said that in the past 10 months (since August 2009 - September 2010), 46 people have been infected with the virus. This multidrug-resistant bacterium. Among them, 27 people died and 9 of them were thought to have died because of causes directly related to this ' virus '. This report also said that 70% of people infected with multi-drug resistant bacteria are elderly people aged 60 or older.

Through tests, it was discovered that people infected with Acinetobacter baumannii are resistant to many different antibiotics . Until now, only one part of the Cephalosporin antibiotic has been shown to work with this bacterium.

In May this year, a patient was taken to the hospital. After the test, the hospital found that the patient was infected with Acinetobacter baumannii. In order to prevent infection, the hospital must block the disease, conduct toxicity and test bacteria.

The medical prevention of the hospital also stopped accepting new patients to prevent the spread of dangerous multi-drug resistant bacteria. However, the doctors at the hospital intentionally concealed the infection of the multi-drug resistant bacteria here until the inspection in late August.

Reportedly, the police have invited Teikyo University Hospital doctors to conduct an investigation to clarify the incident. Tokyo city health officials also said that if Teikyo Hospital soon reported the situation, it was possible to prevent the spread of the " virus ."

Currently, the path of the multi-drug resistant bacteria that appears at Teikyo Hospital has not been determined yet. However, according to experts, this bacterium can live for a very long time . Therefore, it is not possible to exclude the case that this bacterium will spread outside from this hospital.

This incident caused many Japanese people to worry when the type of 'NDM-1 virus ' is resistant to most recently discovered antibiotics in India, England . A medical expert of Japan also warned that the emergence of cases of infection with multi-drug resistant bacteria Acinetobacter baumannii will be a prelude to the spread of viruses in this country.
