Hu Qingshan is located in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. It covers an area of about 400 hectares and is one of the largest reservoirs in the region.
The distinctive green of this lake is the result of the "explosion" of green algae under water . The blooms of algae seem to have stained blue water, while creating large scum on the lake surface.
Shanghaiist said that, in some cases, the concentration of high density of algae in clean water and other aquatic environments may be toxic.
Previously, a similar case was recorded in the Hangzhou River. Environmentalists say the river's flow rate along with high temperatures will lead to the appearance of scum covering the water surface. Human fishing activities are the cause of worse conditions.
