Japanese company NEC has announced that it has successfully developed a live (real-time) pronunciation translation software between Japanese and Chinese.
In the library of software currently has about 50,000 Japanese words and 36,000 thousand Chinese words. These words are the words most commonly used by tourists. It is quite remarkable that this software also distinguishes the accents and voices of different languages from China.
According to the explanation from e-mail to interested people, this translation program will have two versions: audio (audio) and text (text). However, this program is only compatible on the platform of Windows Mobile CE operating system, and currently, NEC has no plan to develop support for other operating systems.
NEC also introduced a Japanese-English direct translation program in 2002 on PDAs.
NEC spokesman has not revealed a specific time to commercialize the software, but said that they are still developing to improve the software, improve the accuracy of speech recognition and translation.
