Magic king butterfly valley in America
These spectacular images were recorded by photographer Joel Sartore at Chincua Sierra conservation area in Mexico.
Every year, an estimated one billion 'gathered' butterflies come here. They migrated from North America, traveling through a 2,500-mile journey to live in Mexico's warm climate between October and March.
Millions of butterflies have created a breathtaking scene, an orange storm of beautiful butterfly wings.
According to photographer Joel Sartore, he was also surprised to see this scene.
He said: "I wrote in a document about the migratory animals in North America and the most famous event in the world. I love to see butterflies gathering together to winter, it It's like an orange blizzard, it's a great life experience, it's a world-class performance, an experience I will never forget. "
Millions of butterflies cling to the trees to retain heat. They spread their wings to catch the sun's rays at sunrise. This monarch butterfly has an annual migration from North America to central Mexico like the migration of birds. Only, their lifespans are very short, only 2 months, so they have to go through 4 generations to complete this migration!
