Mark Zuckerberg spent $ 3 billion looking for antidote to all kinds of diseases in the world

Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan will spend $ 3 billion to cure and solve all kinds of human diseases.

Chan Zuckerberg Initiative is the charity fund of the Facebook boss couple. The first step, the fund will spend 600 million USD to invest in Biohub project , an independent research center located at the University of California, San Francisco (USA) to study new tools to assess and treat diseases.

During a talk at the University, Chan said the couple had spent the past two years discussing with scientists, Nobel laureates and graduate students that they could do anything. for the future of our children."We set a goal: is it possible to cure all kinds of illnesses during your five months? That doesn't mean that no one is sick but that their children and descendants may be much less ill."

Zuckerberg is also present beside his wife. He plans to eliminate nearly all diseases in the next century. He notes that heart disease, infectious disease, cancer, neurological diseases are the leading causes of death. No breakthrough can erase them but if invested in basic scientific research, building new tools will accelerate the process against them.

According to Facebook owner, the current process of licensing science, giving a few thousand dollars to individuals, is not effective. Biohub will bring scientists to software engineers and provide funding for long-term initiatives to promote scientific discoveries. He also stated that "we must be patient" until the first tool was born and the first diseases were cured.

Zuckerberg called for investment in artificial intelligence to better understand the brain, machine learning for cancer genome analysis, chips to diagnose infectious diseases and blood monitors for early disease detection.

Scientific efforts will be led by Dr. Cori Bargamnn, while Biohub is led by Joe DeRissi, University of California Medical Professor Professor and Stephen Quake, biotechnology engineer. One of Biohub's first projects was to develop "cell atlas" , a comprehensive record of all the positions and molecules of all cells in the human body. That tool and other tools will be provided free of charge to the entire scientific community.

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative was established in December 2015 with the primary goal of "promoting human potential and equality in the areas of health, education, scientific research, energy". The first investment of the fund was $ 24 million in Andela to train programmers in Africa.
