Caño Cristales River attracts many visitors thanks to its vibrant colors and clear water.
Caño Cristales River in Colombia is considered by many to be the most beautiful river in the world. Also known as the 'liquid rainbow', the water turns brilliantly thanks to an aquatic plant called Macarenia Clavigera, an endemic species of the Sierra de la Macarena - a mountain range located south of Bogota's capital.
During the middle of the rainy season to the dry season, from July to November, along with mosses, aquatic plants and corals, the red Macarenia Clavigera clings to the rocks along the nearly 100 km long river, creating Make a colorful carpet just below the surface of the water.

Visitors flock here to admire the splendid scenery, with crystal clear water giving visitors the opportunity to observe the life of aquatic animals as well as beautiful aquatic species. Green, blue, black, red and yellow are the main colors.
Local people say the best time to observe aquatic life is after a storm, when their colors are most brilliant. Geological formations of the river have many sediments, the rocks here are about 1.2 million years old. That combined with the abundant aquatic plants creates unique colors for the Caño Cristales River.

Before 2009, visitors were advised to limit Caño Cristales to safety and environmental problems
However, it is not easy to reach Caño Cristales. Visitors must fly to La Macarena, then to Serrania de la Macarena National Park, from where they must reach their destination by walking or horse riding.
Tourists can only visit Caño Cristales from mid-May to early December. Apart from this time, all tours to the river are rejected.
