The coast of Dalian City, China on 9 May emitted strange blue light, sparkling like a river.
Strange blue-green coast in China
Along the coast of Dalian City, Liaoning Province, northeastern China on May 9 appeared "fluorescence sea."According to National Geographic, it is possible that bioluminescent phytoplankton have created this amazing phenomenon.
For many unknown reasons, thousands of marine organisms disturbed in the domestic environment will emit fluorescent light to distract or threaten fish or other predators, BBC said.

Some scientists call this the "burglar alarm effect".By lightening up, plankton create a bigger predator, threatening the enemy.
This is not the first time this strange phenomenon has appeared in China. In the picture is a beach in Hong Kong in January. However, according to Samantha Joyer, an American scientist, this phenomenon is most likely caused by environmental pollution.(Photo: AP)

According to Joyer, the waters polluted by agricultural chemicals and industrial wastewater increase the levels of nitrogen and phosphates in the water, causing plankton and marine algae to suddenly increase, affecting the environment like lack of oxygen, depleting oxygen in the water, reducing the number of fish and other animal populations.
