Microsoft confirmed and committed to patch Word 2000
Microsoft has confirmed that a security error in Word 2000 could be exploited to 'kidnap' a user's PC. Some security vendors have said that the above security flaws have been exploited to spread a backdoor trojan with the main function of stealing user information.
In a security bulletin posted on its Web site, Microsoft said it was developing a patch to fix the problem.
However, Microsoft does not appreciate security flaws because this security error requires user interaction to be exploited. To successfully exploit, the attacker must create a malicious Word file and trick the user into opening the file.
In the absence of a patch, Word 2000 users can use Word 2003 Viewer to browse suspected malicious documents or install a small application that warns users before Word 2000 opens. a text file directly from the Internet browser.
The developer also recommends that users should not download text files attached to unidentified emails and regularly upgrade the system's security application updates.
