Mobile TV will grow hot

The number of people using mobile TV services is expected to reach 120 million in 2012, which is 10 times higher than the current 12 million users.

According to a report from Juniper Research, DVB-H will be the dominant signal transmission standard, gradually taking over the current radio channels. The most developed markets for mobile TV services in 2012 will be the US, followed by Japan and Italy.

This broadcast technology is expected to be deployed in 40 countries and territories, with the spending of customers using mobile TV in the next 5 years is forecast to reach a record 6.6 billion USD.

While the European Commission is still considering approving a number of nominated television technologies for a cheaper investment than DVB-H, in Ireland, the O2 telephone network has ended its test broadcast. Mobile TV for several months on August 31 last. Meanwhile, other telecom service providers began offering these TV programs.

The report also urges technology developers to quickly market more types of chipsets for TV phones so that everyone can enjoy at least a pilot service.
