Mysterious cylinder 'looks like a UFO' appears in Wales
A local resident discovered the strange object while jogging, describing it as if "dropped from space".
Early in the morning of March 12, while walking from his home in Hay-on-Wye (Powys, Wales) as usual, Craig Muir (37 years old) encountered a "strange block of rock" , shiny as if it had just been discovered by someone. alien drop, the New York Times reported.
From a distance, it looks like a lighthouse. It is a silvery monolith, but there are no clues as to how it got there or what purpose it serves.
Speaking in a phone interview the same day, Muir said it "looked like it had just been dropped from space".
This scene immediately attracted the attention of the media, reminiscent of similar strange objects "growing" in different locations, discovered at the end of 2020.
"It must be some kind of art installation. Normally, if you look at it, people can easily think that it is a UFO or something dropped from space ," Muir expressed.
He described the location of the rock formation as "the middle of nowhere", with no traces other than a few footprints seen by him. "I don't know if anyone has seen it or not."
The strange object is described as being made of steel, with very smooth, sharp and shiny edges. (Photo: Craig Muir).
Muir, a stonemason, said the stone block is more than 3 meters high and 0.45 meters wide. I don't know how much of it is underground. The edges are very smooth, shiny and sharp.
Calling it "a perfect monolith", Muir commented that it was "exactly like the blocks in Egypt" but was "made of steel and had no marks on it".
This strange stone block appears to be made from stainless steel. Muir noted that the object was probably very heavy because it did not sway despite strong winds.
As someone who also has experience in metal fabrication, he commented on his expertise that the person who made this monolith did their job really professionally.
"There are no exposed welds. Everything is very neat ," he expressed.
Muir clearly wasn't the only one who saw it. Richard Haynes, who spoke to WalesOnline , said he spotted the object while running on Hay Bluff.
"I thought it looked a bit strange and could be a scientific research item," he said.
The rock formation in Wales is not the first thing to suddenly, magically appear. For several months amid the pandemic in late 2020, similar objects appeared in many places.
A sheep research team in Utah (USA) discovered the first object in November 2020 in a remote canyon in Red Rock County.

That one was dismantled overnight after a few days of discovery, but others popped up in California (USA), Romania and Turkey.
People often call them monoliths , because they are large and vertical, appearing in surprising places, like the one in the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey".
Some people have tried to track down the location of the monoliths, looking for a strange metaphysical experience to compare to those in the movie. However, most of them took pictures with their cell phones and made jokes online.
Mr Muir said Hay Bluff, overlooking the town of Hay-on-Wye, was a hill within the Brecon Beacons National Park. Unfortunately, being placed in this position can cause the block to be removed prematurely.
