Ice valley on Mars

On Earth, freezing weather is common in the upper regions of the Northern Hemisphere and the lower regions in the Southern Hemisphere. A similar case also seems to exist on Mars.

Here, seasonal ice formed from carbon dioxide often appears in the middle of rock trenches at mid and high latitudes. In April, during a test of NASA's high-resolution images (HiRise), scientists took an amazing image on Mars.

According to Iflscience, this detailed image shows the nooks and cracks that freeze in the crater on the northern plains. The amount of ice formed in the cracks varies depending on the material in the ground and the slope of the surfaces they form.

Therefore, in places where the surface is uneven, we will observe dark areas. While the top of these valleys appear again in the light and illuminated by frost.

The slopes are not common on the northern hemisphere of the red planet. Most fluctuations in the occurrence of frost occur in the abyss along the southern plain, where there are many slopes and variations on the surface. HiRise is still continuing to observe changes in the level of freezing in these valleys on Mars to better understand its activities.
