Netherlands-Vietnam implemented sustainable water exploitation program

A Dutch - Vietnamese cooperation program on Water for Food and Ecosystems will start on September 20. The goal is to manage integrated water resources in a sustainable way in Vietnam.

That is the goal of the cooperation program between the Netherlands and Vietnam on Water for Food and Ecosystems. This program will start on September 20. This Partnership Program is designed to support Vietnam in interdisciplinary coordination in the formulation and implementation of policies and strategies between the agriculture, fisheries, environment and industry sectors.

According to Hans Hoogeveen, Director of the Dutch Department of International Cooperation - Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, building a consistent national strategy for Water for Food and Ecosystems is key to achieve the goal of integrated water resources management in a sustainable way.

Thereby, the project hopes to help Vietnam effectively solve development and production challenges to alleviate poverty and ensure food security.

This initiative will be implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and related ministries such as Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam Electricity Corporation - representatives for key sectors but activity depends heavily on the continuous availability of water resources in terms of quantity, timing and quality.
