New breakthrough on early diagnosis of lung cancer

A group of students from Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have successfully developed a new breath diagnosis system that helps detect signs of lung cancer at an early stage.
This innovation won the $ 100,000 prize at MIT's annual young business competition. This device called "L CARD" can detect certain gases, thereby helping to quickly identify signs of lung cancer.
The student group won a $ 100,000 prize with this new breath diagnostic device.
Like the traditional breath diagnostic machine, the device still requires users to breathe into the sensor. However, the device's creativity is that it connects to the application on the phone. Immediately after breathing for a few minutes, the phone will notify the patient of symptoms of lung cancer.
At the experiment conducted by MIT student Joseph Azzarelli, breathing with lung cancer symptoms was sprayed into the machine, immediately the phone screen red."L CARD will respond and immediately send warning information about the patient's health," Azzarelli said.
Jay Kumar, a Harvard Medical School student of the device inventor group, said the L CARD is 10 times more accurate than CT scans, but the cost is extremely low. While a CT scan costs about $ 800 a time, this breathalyzer only costs less than $ 1.
The startups said they would sell L CARDS directly to hospitals.
