The discovery of the oldest figurines of the oldest ever found in the UK, along with a large stash area of flint tools and animal bones, showed his presence. people here since the Mesolithic era ( Middle Stone Age ).

That means Stonehenge can be a place of great significance right from thousands of years before this famous building was built.

David Jacques, the instructor of the Roman History course of the Open University (UK), joined his group of students to conduct excavation in the northeast of the Iron Age hill called Vespers Camp (where pray in the afternoon).

Hidden underground is a treasure of precious artifacts.'Last year we dug a ditch in the southeast and found a land of the last Roman period, after the Iron Age. Later, we found a lot of flint tools wrapped together under a 12cm thick layer of soil , 'said Jacques.

Among them, the most important artifact is the figure of two finely carved ducks - the oldest carved statue in England, dating from around 700 BC. In addition, a ceremonial dagger (dating back to about 1400 BC) was also found.

By means of radioactive carbon, scientists have identified the date of the object that Jacques originally believed was the cow's teeth. Accordingly, it appeared around 6250 BC, about 3,000 years before building Stonehenge.

It is one of more than 200 animal bones discovered together with evidence of a great fire, showing here, during the Mesolithic period (the Stone Age), a party with participation of about 100 people. These bones are more likely to belong to the European bison, a species that is extinct and about the size of a buffalo.

Expanding excavations, the team also found a place to bury other precious objects with more than 5,500 stone tools.

These findings are proof of human existence for a long time at Stonehenge.

Mesolithic era (also known as Epipaleolithic era - the old stone age ) belongs to the middle period of the Stone Age. It is in the Old Stone Age and New Stone Age.

In Europe, the Mesolithic era began around 9660 to 5000 BC. However, in different continents, this civilization grows at different speeds.

Accordingly, it took place in Japan from 14,000 to 400 BC and in West Asia from about 20,000 to 9500 BC.
