New research on contraceptives for both men and women cures infertility in men

The new "neutral" birth control pill will prevent unwanted pregnancy by "inhibiting" the sperm's ability to swim.

Biological researchers at the University of California believe they have discovered the chemical mechanism that makes sperm "slip" into eggs during fertilization.

Sperm cells are observed under different hormones.

After many experiments, they found the "key" of the problem on the "tail" part of each sperm: the part that receives the chemical signal emitted by the sex hormone progesterone in the female body. When this hormone is secreted from an egg or oocyte, a chemical reaction changes the protein compound of the sperm receptor and makes the sperm move. And so sperm will be able to "dive" through the protective egg cell.

If the hormone progesterone does not activate the sperm "tail" , fertilization will not take place. Researchers believe that a drug can be created to "turn off" the signal receiving part on a sperm "tail" , and the drug will be used in both men and women.

And equally important, this finding has revealed some part to the scientific community about the phenomenon of male infertility , a problem that has yet to be solved. In fact, the mechanism of sperm production as well as the way sperm fertilize an egg has not been understood at the molecular level. The main reason for this is due to the US government's ban on sperm and oocyte experiments.

If the hormone progesterone does not activate the sperm "tail", fertilization will not take place.

So in order to carry out their research, scientists cleverly "circumvented the law" by attaching electrodes to the "tail" part of the sperm and analyzing the reaction of different hormones acting on sperm, and of course progesterone has been included in the list of tested hormones.

"If the protein cells that act as progesterone signals do not work, you will be infertile , " explains Dr Melissa Miller, the author of the first report on the study. Give us a completely new perspective on the functioning of human sperm ".
