Non-alcoholic beer still attracts men

If beer does not contain alcohol, its taste still makes men feel more excited, scientists claim.

>>>Moderate beer can control diabetes

A team of experts from the Indinana University School of Medicine in the United States recruited 49 men to understand the taste of beer to them. They in turn spray water, sports drinks and beer into each person's mouth for 15 minutes. The team tracked each volunteer's brain with magnetic resonance imaging, the BBC reported.

The results showed that the amount of dopamine, a potentially excitatory neurotransmitter, in the brain of volunteers jumped after the team sprayed beer into their mouths. Because the total time of spraying all three substances is only 15 minutes, the alcohol in beer does not work well.

"We believe this is the first human trial to prove that the taste of an alcoholic drink can stimulate dopamine activity in the brain," said lead researcher David Kareken, who led the study.

Professor Dai Stephen, an expert at the University of Sussex in England, did not feel surprised at the discovery of the Kareken group.

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter capable of creating a sense of excitement in the brain. It makes us feel satisfied after eating a delicious dish, happy when the national team wins, sublimation when using drugs. It also makes us feel excited when parachuting from airplanes, spending money on bluff or launching cars with high speed. According to researchers, the brains of people who prefer doses have more dopamine than most of us.
