Opening of the 2010 Robocon Finals
The competition between schools with a long tradition and strength and technology with young schools will be a remarkable point in this year's Robot Innovation Contest.
The final round of the Vietnam Robot Innovation Contest (Robocon) will take place from 10 to 16/5 at Dak Lak Sports Center, Buon Me Thuot city with the participation of 34 teams. These teams are selected from more than 250 teams in the qualifying competition in the North, Central and South regions.
The winner of the final round will represent Vietnam to attend the International Asia-Pacific Robocon Contest in Cairo, Egypt in September.

The theme of this year's competition is the Robo-Pharaohs who built the Pyramid, taking the idea based on the work of building the pyramids of Egyptian emperors. The goal is to build parts of the three pyramids in sequence, the members and robots will have to manipulate quickly, accurately, and coordinate well. Teams are not allowed to use any adhesive materials between the blocks. The entire construction took place in three minutes.
2010 Robocon emphasizes antagonism but facilitates teams to demonstrate technological and technical, psychological and competitive tactics. Of the three pyramids, only one built by a robot is hand-built, while the other two pyramids are built entirely by automatic robots.
This year there are a number of big schools, with strengths in technology and traditional thickness, that do not have any representatives to participate in the finals, such as Hanoi University of Technology, Transport, Military Technical Academy. Natural Science, Hanoi. Meanwhile, many schools - such as Dak Lak Vocational College or Phu Chau Vocational College - although they have just joined for the first time, have the final round.
Explaining this phenomenon, Dr. Ngo Thai Tri - head of the jury of Vietnam Robot Competition 2010 - thinks that big schools have a lot of technical innovation activities, so building robots to participate in the competition can be just an activity. within the framework of a department or several groups. On the contrary, in many small or newly established schools, the Robocon teams receive the attention of the whole school, more favorable conditions.
This year's finals will be a competition between teams with traditions, experiences, and technological strengths with exciting "rookie" teams. Victory will belong to the team with robots that operate stably, accurately, and at high speed. In addition, programming and tactical ability to optimize competition time are also extremely important factors to win.
Vietnam Television has organized 9 annual Robocon competitions. Many students who have participated in this competition have achieved success in the relevant field. Ho Vinh Hoang, director of TOSY - TOPIO table tennis robot manufacturing company has attended technology exhibitions in Japan, Germany and some other countries. Luu Anh Tien, head of the Vietnam Robocon champion team in 2007 became a technology investor and technical director for an American company's automation projects.
