A picture created by will officially be auctioned in the US in a few days. This is the first time a work of art is not created by humans on the auction floor.
Christie Auction House is the unit that will be responsible for this very special auction. The name of the work drawn by the AI is 'Portrait of Edmond Belamy' in the image of a priest dressed in a robe. A number of different parts of the unfinished painting are thought to be intentional.
The painting drawn by AI is expected to earn 7,000 to 10,000 USD by auction houses.
To create the picture, a French art unit named Obvious used a creative, self-learning computer method called GAN (Generative Adversarial Network ).
There are two parts in GAN. One is a creative machine (Generator) , the other is a distinction machine (Discriminator) . Obvious provides the system with a set of 15,000 portraits drawn from the 14th to the 20th century. After that, GAN will analyze and offer image plans. Finally GAN will handle the final stage to produce the printout.
The first art product created by this AI surprised many people because it looked like a real work of art (of the 17th century).
Although there was a lot of criticism about the auction of a picture that was not created by humans, the first painting by this AI was still auctioned with many works of famous artists like Andy. Warhol, Keith Haring, Louise Nevelson, Marc Chagall and.
