On the afternoon of August 31, the FunniYM program created a new "storm" for Yahoo Messenger users. This is the 5th virus in the last 4 months, spread through the contacts of this popular messaging software.

Like previous versions of Yahoo Messenger virus, FunniYM automatically sends a message titled "Fun wa ':" with a link to download a file called Funni.exe, disguised as an entertaining game.

After infecting a PC, the virus will constantly replicate itself by sending messages to the entire Friends List in the Yahoo Messenger software on the computer, causing bandwidth and discomfort for users. More seriously, FunniYM also loads into a victim's computer a keylogger to monitor keyboard typing, to steal users' information.

According to the analysis of Mr. Nguyen Tu Quang, BKIS Network Security Center Director, all "internal" viruses of this type have the same operating mechanism, needing to be clicked by users. However, the vigilance of the community is not high, many people still open strange links without asking the sender to make sure that the content is reliable.

Mr. Quang said there were more than 1,200 computers infected with FunniYM. BKIS Network Security Center has updated BKAV 891 version to remove this virus.

The emergence of dangerous software "made in VN" via the way Yahoo Messenger proves that the method of dealing with the virus has not been effective enough to deter those who like to destroy.
