People could not sleep for how long?

A British man named Tony Wright was fully awake for 266 hours, more than 11 days in May. He keeps his eyes open by eating carrots, bananas, avocados, pineapples and cashews.

This exhausted guy broke Randy Gardner's record in 1964 after not sleeping for 254 hours. However, no one is included in the Guinness Book of World Records, because people do not want to give prizes to people who are too adventurous for their health.

Some animals may spend several months without sleep. But for most people, just a bad night's sleep is enough to change the mood and cause frustration and discomfort. Not sleeping can lead to poor concentration and loss of insight when making decisions. It is also dangerous to operate machinery or to drive a car and fall asleep. Prolonged insomnia can also lead to hallucinations and paranoia.
