People who are at high risk of developing gastrointestinal cancer

According to Professor Dao Van Long, Head of Gastrointestinal Department, Bach Mai Hospital (Hanoi), gastrointestinal cancer ranks third among the deadly cancers in the world. More than 90% of cancers of this type develop from adenomatous polyps. Therefore, early detection and ablation of adenomatous polyps has a malignant risk that helps reduce the rate of cancer.

Professor Long stressed that it is very important to check for early detection of gastrointestinal cancers in people at risk. If detected early, the disease is almost curable. However, due to the psychological fear of detecting the disease, the patients often do not go to the hospital early, only when they feel unbearable pain, discomfort, loss of appetite, bleeding, weight loss . but it is too late to go to hospital. .

Professor Long also noted that treatment with HP is not required. It is estimated that 70% of the population carries HP bacteria, but not all need treatment; Only when there are symptoms of abdominal pain, belching . need to see a doctor, consult a treatment.

Disease screening has many levels, periodically checking in a certain center if there are disorders that need intensive screening. Screening can be done at regular medical examination facilities such as blood tests, gastrointestinal endoscopy; if biopsy is suspected and endoscopic ultrasound.
