Phu Tho: Successfully bred F1 F1 wild boars

Project on the creation and production of F1 high quality commercial hybrid pig breeds in Yen Lap district

The project of "Breeding and producing high quality F1 commercial wild pig breeds in Yen Lap district" , Phu Tho province implemented by the district agricultural extension station has brought about high efficiency for farmers, initially providing seeds for some mountainous districts of the province.

The project is implemented in 10 communes in Yen Lap district with 10 households participating. These households meet the economic criteria, land for building cages, the ability to acquire technology . and are directly consulted by the project to design and build protection fences, breeding facilities .

Households selected 2 types of wild boars (5 Thai wild boars and 5 Vietnamese wild boars) to nurture and tame in specific conditions in Yen Lap district. Subsequently, for breeding wild boars with local background sows such as Mong Cai sow, Trung Son commune sow, economic hybrid pig, hybrid boar and local pig bought in Yen Bai.

As a result, after 2 years of implementation, the number of F1 piglets born is 514 (the project's goal is 400). F1 adapted, good resistance, no infectious disease, good meat quality, higher income than regular breeding pigs.

Mr. Nguyen Tieu Thien, Trung Giap commune (Phu Ninh district) said that in 2008, his family invested in building cages and VND 60 million to buy 10 pairs of cross-bred wild pigs to raise. By 2010, the family's pig herd has grown to more than 100 pigs.

In 2011, except for all costs, sales of breeding pigs and porkers, Thien's family earns more than VND 400 million.

The project also completed the breeding and breeding process between Thai and Vietnamese wild boars with local sows; process of nurturing and taking care of breeding sows, gilts and piglets after weaning; commercial pig breeding process; disease prevention; Processing food on the spot for each stage of pig development in accordance with local breeding conditions.

Thereby, providing materials for participating households and farmers who want to learn to raise wild boar.

Currently, the project supported by the project to grow and develop well contributes to the breeding and production of high quality commercial piglets in Yen Lap district and will eventually replicate in many other highland districts in the provincial.
