Archaeologists have discovered about 150 large footprints of a pre-dinosaur animal in the valley of Vallarsa at the foot of the Italian Alps.

These footprints are dated to about 242 million years ago - before the time when dinosaurs appeared on earth.

Studies show that these footprints belong to an unknown prehistoric reptile, but there are many similarities to later dinosaurs or crocodiles.

Scientists are continuing to expand their search in Vallarsa valley and nearby valleys in the hope of finding more new traces.

The dinosaurs appeared on Earth 230 million years ago and became extinct 65 million years ago due to the changing climate of the earth.

Finding these footprints is important in the study of life on the earth in the pre-dinosaur era.

Earlier, US and German scientists also discovered the fossil record of an animal with a family of dinosaurs that existed 243 million years ago at an archaeological site in southern Tanzania.

This is considered to be the oldest known creature that is related to dinosaurs./.
