Series of dinosaur footprints revealed after storm in England
Scientists found 85 dinosaur footprints from the Cretaceous well preserved in humid environments.
The team from the University of Cambridge announced, uncovering 85 dinosaur footprints dating back to 100 million years in East Sussex, along cliffs near Hastings, England, on December 17, Fox News reported. These footprints belong to at least 7 species, including Stegosaurus dinosaurs . They were exposed when strong storm swept across the region in the period 2014-2018.

The footprints range from less than 2cm to over 60cm and are well preserved in humid environments, many footprints still see skin marks, scales and claws. Neil Davies, co-author of the study, was impressed by their diversity.
The fossil numbers will help scientists better understand which dinosaurs exist together and how they affect their surroundings, says study co-author Anthony Shillito.
"You can guess which dinosaurs are because of the footprint shape. Comparing them with the data collected on dinosaur feet from other fossils helps you identify important similarities. When you look at it. footprints from other locations, you can start piecing together information and determine which dinosaurs are, " Davies said.
Shillito intends to focus on the effects of these giant creatures on the river's flow."We found some small traces showing dinosaurs' effects. With some deep footprints, you can see traces of growing bushes. We also found footprints along the banks of some. the branch, so maybe dinosaurs have played an important role in creating those branches, " he explained.
The area where 85 dinosaur footprints can be detected is one of the top archaeological sites in the UK. The team hopes to find more ancient traces here in the future.
