According to Vladimir Sychev, deputy scientific director of the Russian Academy of Biomedical Affairs, the equipment for studying embryo formation has been made specifically for use in space.

This device includes a centrifuge capable of displaying the process of embryo formation both in the state of artificial weight and weightless state.

"Because the process requires the use of formaldehyde, the device must ensure absolute safety for astronauts," said Mr Sychev.

The expert said eggs and incubators should have been put on ISS this year. However, this plan was postponed to 2021 because it was related to the launch of a new Russian module called "Nauka".
