Radioactive clouds spread to Hanoi

The monitoring station in Hanoi has detected radioactivity in the air. However, the analytical results show that it is only a very small content, does not affect human health.

According to the latest announcement from the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute , in the afternoon of May 5, the monitoring station in Hanoi measured isotopes I-131, Cs-137 and Cs-134 (radioactive substance) in air. However, experts assert, the radioactive content detected is very small, does not affect human health.

The National Data Center of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBTO) of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Agency predicts: In the coming days, in Southeast Asia, nuclear nuclei may still be recorded. radiation in the air but with very low concentrations.

In recent days, monitoring stations in Japan, Philippines and Malaysia have all recorded the presence of radioactive substances in the air with low concentrations. The Fukushima I nuclear power information processing task force of the Ministry of Science and Technology said: at the Fukushima plant the white smoke continues to escape from the furnace building of units 1, 2, 3 and 4.

From April 3, cooling freshwater injection pumps for reactors were switched to external grid electricity. Restoration of a portion of lighting in turbine units 1, 2, 3 and 4 has also been completed.
