"Normally you see the rainbow after the rain. But this rainbow does not cross the sky, it forms in the clouds," said Tay Cheong Soon, 46. In February, Tay Cheong Soon missed the chance to see the fire rainbow.

A rainbow of fire appears when light is dispersed by passing through tiny spheres or drops of water in the cloud. Fire rainbows often appear in the late afternoon in hot and humid days, according to National Geographic.

Many fire rainbows form on the cumulonimbus clouds, the dense cloud that grows vertically in relation to thunderstorms and atmospheric anomalies.
