'Resting clothes' for all terrain
In big cities, how to get a comfortable place to rest in public? Female artist Sarah Ross has found a unique solution .
Once the painter Sarah Ross took a walk in her hometown of Los Angeles, when she was tired, she sat on the bench on the street. Ross realized that if he wanted to, he could not rest on this chair. From there she traveled all over the city, finding a place that could rest comfortably. But she quickly realized that managers did not pay attention to the need for resting tired travelers.
After that time, Ross began planning to design an item to carry people so that when needed to sit or lie comfortably. At first she thought of a couch pillow. But carrying it on the street is really inconvenient. Ross finally found a solution to design pillows as part of clothing and it needed to fit where people wanted to lean back, sit or lie.
So Ross designed a series of Archisuits. With each outfit, she attached the pillows to match the terrain of the city. Ross's costumes are useful but quite odd, just like the character of a fantasy movie. In fact, Ross has no intention of inviting people to use these funny outfits. Ross's goal is to prove that Los Angeles' environment seems to want to eliminate the poor from the city's prosperity. The couch cannot lie just a small example, so it can be seen that the city government is not compassionate to the homeless, not wanting them to sleep and lose the urban landscape.
When it comes to homeless people, people often think of two issues: environmental hygiene and crime. The first problem is understandable, but in Los Angeles areas where there are many homeless people, crime is lower than other areas. 'The space of the city is built to ensure personal interests' - Ross concludes - 'it is unacceptable to forget or not admit the classes between people'. And this is the call from the soul of the true artist, even though it may not reach those who need to hear.
