Robocon and open direction for Vietnam automation

Today (August 25), Robocon - the 6th Asia-Pacific Robot Innovation Contest in 2007 will officially open in Vietnam. This is the first time, an international robot contest is held in Vietnam - a country has 3/5 times champion in previous competitions. As the host team this time, we have the right to hope for the next success of Vietnam in this competition as well as new developments in the field of automation.

Organized once a year starting in 2002, Robocon is a creative contest of robots launched by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Association with the participation of 19 member countries (including Vietnam). ). This is a contest to enable future engineers to implement bold ideas, build their own machines according to a given theme.

With 5 contests held before, Vietnam won 3 times in Japan, Korea and Malaysia.

Robocon has not only become host for the year, but also has been an annual expectation of automation students. Robocon has a strong impact on Vietnam automation because automation in Vietnam originates from students and scientific researchers. Robocon is an international-scale experimental playground.

From the first years of joining Robocon so far, the development of robots in Vietnam has been evaluated very well. Since tracking is also a difficult problem, now, robots have been able to identify objects through color touch. And instead of blocking with sticks, robots will be programmed to deal with each object politely.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen The Phuong - Chairman of Vietnam Science Robot Association: Robocon is the nucleus of the creative movement, scientific and technical development of students and students. However, no matter how good it is, it's still just that the game can't bring that to production. But it helps build proper thinking, industrial application and life, can learn skills, collective ways, how to promote those creations. Many mature students from robocon have done many meaningful things for their country.

The Asian Robot Association has recognized Vietnam as the region's fourth potential member. The success of the country in the Robocon period is also admired by international friends. The only thing to organize those results into real products, talented future engineers are still waiting for the opportunity to implement the more difficult application problems that science and finance management agencies take. out. In the immediate future, these ideas and products are mostly in the drawer or just stopped at the experimental model.
