Robots take care of the elderly

One of the Japanese researchers said they have built robots called RI-MAN that are full of hearing, vision, smelling and possible functions.

One of the Japanese researchers said they have built robots called RI-MAN with all the functions of listening, seeing, smelling and being able to "hold" people in order to take care of the elderly before the digital situation. The number of elderly people is rising in this country.

RI-MAN robot weighing 100 kg can distinguish eight different types of odor, follow the voice instructions to where and use light source to identify signals on human face.

With a height of 1.58 meters, RI-MAN robot can carry a doll weighing 12 kg and carry a person weighing 70 kg.

RI-MAN robot is covered by a 0.5 cm thick layer of soft silicone and equipped with sensors to recognize the weight and position of people.

Toshiharu Mukai, head of the research team said: "We hope RI-MAN robots will be able to take care of the elderly or participate in rehabilitation" in the future.

" We will develop the ability to detect human health through breathing, " he added.

Japan is strengthening its demand for caring for the elderly to solve the world's longest-lived population problem.
