Russia invents 'eternal' lamp

Russian scientists have created a product that surpasses the LED's 'eternal' light.

Russian scientists have created a product that surpasses the LED's 'eternal' light. This new lamp is more reliable, durable and brighter than any other light available on the market. Plus, it promises to be very cheap, if mass-produced.

Not so long ago, LEDs lit our lives and were a more efficient alternative to old incandescent lamps. However, it seems that the LED bulbs already have new competitors. Researchers from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) and the Lebedev Institute of Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences have come up with a new type of light - a technology that has been studied since the 1980s, but didn't. less obstacles to this day.

The mechanism of action of the eternal light.

This new Russian-made light is based on the emission field phenomenon and operates on the same principle of the shadow used in the older generation of TVs - using cathode ray tubes.

According to the authors of the study, this technology has many advantages: The new lamp can glow in any color (from red to ultraviolet) and withstand almost any condition.

Professor Evgenii Sheshin, vice president of vacuum electronics at MIPT, who led the team, said : 'We tried to put the lamp in liquid nitrogen at minus 180 degrees Celsius - it still works! After that, we heated it to 300 degrees Celsius - it continued to work. "

In Russia, this type of lamp became known as the Sheshin lamp, the cathode light emitting light does not diminish effectively over time and has no expiration date.

If mass-produced, it will also be quite cheap (about 30 rubles or $ 0.47 each) and will operate for up to 10,000 hours.

Sheshin lamps will be a cleaner alternative to ultraviolet fluorescent tubes, which according to the UN Minamata Convention will soon be banned for circulation because of mercury.
