Russia's Soyuz TMA-17 ships carrying three astronauts and Christmas gifts for the space station that has successfully connected.
Ria Novosti quoted Valery Lyndin, a spokesman for the cruise command, said the connection went smoothly.
Russian astronaut Oleg Kotov and NASA astronaut Timothy Creamer and Japanese colleague Soichi Noguchi will work with two astronauts on the ISS in early October.
These experts will be on the space station until May 5/2010. They will take over US shuttles and Russia's Progress spacecraft, carry out a series of scientific experiments and some space walks.
