Scan the brain, predict fate
US scientists discovered that suicidal tendencies can occur very early in a person's brain through images from brain scanners.
The research team from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh (USA) have discovered that the brains of those who intend to end their lives respond very differently to handling emotional concepts related to death and sin. evil.
By capturing these abnormal reactions, scientists can predict whether the patient will seek future death and take early intervention.

These abnormalities can be found after analyzing brain scans. In the experiment, published in the scientific journal Nature Human Behavior, 34 people were brainwashed and analyzed. 50% of these are people who have attempted suicide or intend to commit suicide, the rest are those with normal healthy spirits.
The program designed by the design team has identified 91% of those who intend to seek death, even it has shown 9 people who have committed suicide but were saved with 94% accuracy.
Brain regions related to sadness, shame, anger, pride are also considered to make the most accurate conclusion.
According to psychology professor Marcel Just (Carnegie Mellon University), the study's lead author, his team makes sure the accuracy of the technology is 85%. Knowing a person who has the idea of going to death is very helpful for clinicians in identifying, monitoring and interfering with the patients' distorted, negative thoughts.
Many patients initially had the idea of death but were not really worried about it and had not thought of one day that they would really act. If the doctor catches it early, these dangerous thoughts have a much higher chance of being prevented.
In the UK, up to 6,000 people commit suicide each year. That is considered the leading cause of death among young people aged 20-34. With previous technologies, it is difficult to diagnose who actually wants to die in patients who go to the psychological clinic because of sadness, depression in life.
