Sea water in Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh appears a strange red streak 3km long
People living along the coast of Cam Xuyen district (Ha Tinh) discovered a streak of sea water turning turbid red, stretching about 3km. Local authorities said this phenomenon has happened before and determined that the cause may be caused by seaweed.
On the morning of March 25, passing through Thien Cam town and Cam Nhuong commune, Cam Xuyen district (Ha Tinh), people discovered the sea water had changed color unusually.
The strange water stain is opaque red, 50-100m wide, stretching about 3km. At locations where water streaks appear, there is a fishy smell when ocean waves wash in.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tue - Chairman of the People's Committee of Thien Cam town (Cam Xuyen district) said that the phenomenon of sea water turning red occurred in the past 2 days.
'Every year from March to May, the above phenomenon appears in the sea across the area for a few days. The authorities took samples to test and determined the cause was caused by a type of seaweed ,' Mr. Tue said.
Viewed from above, the water streaks turn red, mixed with the blue of the sea. The closer you get to shore, the darker the water becomes.
