Security makes e-commerce lose $ 2 billion in revenue
Research firm Gartner said that in 2006, the global e-commerce industry lost about $ 2 billion in revenue due to security concerns from users.
There are two main reasons why the global e-commerce industry must lose such a huge source of revenue. First, a user worries and avoids some websites that they consider to be unsafe. Second, some users are too afraid of security issues so they turned away from e-commerce.
The damage caused by the above two causes is close to the same. If the first cause causes the industry to lose $ 913 million, the second cause also causes losses of about $ 1 billion.
Gartner's report clearly shows the long-standing concerns of users. The problem raised is not that the e-commerce industry must be discouraged but want to warn the industry one thing.
" Users are not aware of the security solutions applied on the e-commerce website because those solutions still seem invisible to the user. Meanwhile, security solutions can be observed again. "It's not enough to convince users. Credit card transactions are still unsecured, there are cases where hackers steal a lot of users' card codes that damage them ."
Meanwhile consumers often make decisions whether or not to buy goods based on what they feel. In spite of the fact that the e-commerce website has a very high level of security, if the user feels that it is unsafe, they will not buy it.
Gartner also confirmed its report could not be used as a measure of e-commerce damage. Reality may be much further away.
On the consumer side, they expect websites to further improve their security status. Lack of security is the leading cause that makes them not making purchasing decisions.
Gartner also affirmed that the current status of e-commerce security is a completely real problem and recommends that the industry should further improve its security to be able to collect lost revenue and gain pleasure. Customer's news.
" Enterprises need to quickly overcome all security issues, application of anti-fraud solutions, stronger user authentication, transaction confirmation, data protection . ", Gartner recommends fox.
