See Eta Aquarids meteor shower early next week

In the dawn of May 5, astronomers from all over the world can admire the meteor shower of Eta Aquarids.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Dang Vu Tuan Son, Chairman of Vietnam Young Astronomical Association said, this is a small meteor shower with a forecast of about 20 meteor streaks / hour at maximum.

The Eta Aquarids meteor shower is centered on the constellation Aquarius, beginning on April 19 and ending on May 28. However, the maximum time of this phenomenon will fall on 5-6 / 5 and the most beautiful after 3am.

In order to see the Eta Aquarids meteor shower, astronomers can look up at the eastern sky, at which point the constellation has reached the top of the head so the best posture is to lie on its back.

Observations do not need any eye protection devices as well as telescopes and binoculars. However, viewers need a wide viewing angle to avoid places with light such as high pressure lamps.

Mr. Son also said that summer weather is generally quite ideal for observing the sky. In particular, the observation time also fell in the beginning of the Lunar month so it was less affected by the moonlight. In areas and localities with small atmospheric pollution, the night sky these days is quite clear and observers can clearly see the constellations that stand out in the sky.

However, in some areas like Hanoi, there have been cloudy and rainy days in recent days, so it will significantly affect the observation.

Mr. Son shared his experience, the observer could base on the fact that if he counted a few dozen stars in the sky, there would be a chance to watch the meteor shower.
